When I first started my business, my partner and I worked out a quick operating agreement. We were overwhelmed with work at the time, and we didn’t have time to work out every minute detail of our business. Our state doesn’t require an operating agreement, so this was more of a feel-good project for us. Now that we have everything more under control and we have more time on our hands, we’re going to write one out properly. We have been looking at operating agreement examples, and they are a bit overwhelming. I don’t speak legalese, so half of the text in these examples doesn’t make sense to me. However, I have found a few places that offer to tailor a document to your needs, so I will probably take advantage of one of these shortcuts. They cost money, but all we will have to do is fill out a simple questionnaire, and a professional legal document writer will format everything into a bona fide legal document. I would say that’s money well spent.
